Coming from the crossroads of Europe, Red Red (USA/BE) is an unlikely cross-pollination between psychedelia, 70s guitar rock, blues and hip-hop turntablism. Led by an ethnomusicologist and multi-instrumentalist from Ohio, Red Red is formed from the finest musicians from the Belgian roots, blues, and jazz music scenes. Turntablist DJ Courtasock fills out the lineup, adding layers of sampled sounds from all over the world.

After years of working on their sound and building a reputation as a fierce live act, Red Red released their debut LP, ‘The Alabama Kid’. While fans of guitar-slinging acts like Blackberry Smoke, The Black Keys or Gary Clarke Jr. will find plenty to like in the album, Red Red brings in sounds never heard before in the genre. In ‘The Alabama Kid’ the band shows off their wide range of influences, from the Robert Palmer thump of the album’s opener ‘Lay Me Down Marie’ to the bluegrass psychedelia of ‘The Cuckoo’, to the drum-and-bass boogie of ‘I Gotta Know’.

Recht uit de Europese crossroads, blijkt Red Red (USA/BE) een onwaarschijnlijke kruisbestuiving tussen psychedelische tunes, 70ies gitaarrock, blues en hiphop turntablisme. Onder het waakzame oog/oor van een etnomusicoloog en multi-instrumentalist uit Ohio, telt Red Red een stel gave muzikanten uit de Belgische roots, blues en jazz scene. DJ Courtasock boetseert het geheel met gesamplede sounds van over heel de wereld.  

Na jarenlang aan hun geluid te hebben gewerkt en een reputatie als een energieke live-act te hebben opgebouwd, bracht Red Red hun debuut-LP uit, ‘The Alabama Kid’. Hoewel fans van gitaarrockbands zoals Blackberry Smoke, The Black Keys of Gary Clarke Jr. veel te waarderen zullen vinden in het album, introduceert Red Red geluiden die nog nooit eerder in het genre te horen waren.
